Health coaches support and educate their clients through behavior and lifestyle adjustments. They are well educated guides in nutrition, wellness, stress management, and bio-individuality.

Health coaches can do biometric screening and develop individually tailored plans with your goals in mind. Whether you want to lose weight, just get healthier, or improve your marathon time, we can develop a plan for you.

We work with clients that want to achieve a healthier lifestyle. Our clients range from individuals and families that want to lose, or manage, their weight, to individuals that want to train for sporting events.

Health coaching and life coaching can be a very similar process. However, each are there own specialty. A life coach focuses on a individual’s personal and professional goals. They dig deeper into the more intimate areas of an person’s life such as relationships, career, parenting and family, and personal finances. Life coaches guide people in finding their passion and purpose. A health coach focuses on creating a balance between all of the factors that affect a person’s health. Some of these factors may include physical activity, mental health, stress, relationships, and nutrition. Health coaches provide guidance and support to individuals as they travel through their health and wellness journey.

If you have ever left your doctor’s office knowing you needed to make a change to better your health, but felt confused or unmotivated to start; then you could most likely benefit from hiring a health coach. Health coaches help bridge the gap between your office visit and daily life. A health coach will help you narrow down your health goals. Unlike your doctor, who will send you home with suggestions or medication, your health coach will be there to provide support, guidance, and motivation until those health goals are met.

Health coaches come from a variety of backgrounds. Most health coaches hold a degree or certification as an allied health professional. April and Emily are Respiratory Therapists and have almost two decades of combined experience within that field. They have health coach certifications from different entities.
April earned her certification from ACE (American Council on Exercise). She learned about motivation and behavior change, coach and client relationships, motivational interviewing, nutrition, exercise, and more. In order to sit for the ACE Health Coach certification exam, April had to be over the age of 18, hold a current CPR/AED certification, and hold an associate’s degree or from an accredited college or university. The ACE Health Coach certification is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). The NCAA is the same credentialing agency for registered dietitians, athletic trainers, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, and many more.

Emily earned her certification from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. She studied food and diet, but also learned why and how other lifestyle factors directly impact everyday life. Factors such as stress, sleep, physical activity, spirituality, relationship, and more. Emily was taught the concept of bio-individuality, which means everyone is unique and that one plan or program will not work the same for each person. It takes a year of training to become credentialed as a health coach from IIN.

We can provide all of our health coaching services over the phone or in Skype meetings.

If a health coach also holds a certification in personal training, then yes, they can provide personal training. Quite often, you will come across a coach that holds both certifications. They go hand in hand. Having both certifications gives the coach credibility and skills to adequately reach their client’s personal health goals.
